Announcing New Campaign Resources on HIV Treatment!

CDC | July 31, 2020

CDC is pleased to announce a new suite of HIV Treatment Works (HTW) products and materials as part of its Let’s Stop HIV Together campaign. CDC launched the HTW campaign in 2014, encouraging those with HIV to get in care, start taking HIV medications, remain in care, and stay on treatment as directed. Keeping with those themes, the new HTW focuses on reaching and supporting people with HIV throughout their life journey so that they can live well with HIV.

A large part of the update emphasizes viral suppression, also known as “being undetectable.” The new campaign products reflect the latest science showing that a person with HIV who takes HIV medicine as prescribed and gets and stays virally suppressed, or undetectable, can stay healthy and have effectively no risk of sexually transmitting HIV to an HIV-negative partner through sex.

Our goal with the updated HTW materials is to promote the positive health outcomes that result from HIV care and treatment, so that people with HIV are encouraged to engage in care and adhere to their treatment. The HTW update will use new and refreshed content for key topic areas such as getting started on treatment, reconnecting with medical providers if one has fallen out of care, and living well with HIV. As part of the update, HTW materials will highlight campaign participants and share updates from their lives since 2014 when the campaign began.

In the coming weeks and months, we will be rolling out expanded resources, including campaign videos, additional posters, and new social media content. New resources will be available on the treatment pages of the Let’s Stop HIV Together English and Spanish websites and the YouTube channel. Resources will concentrate on important topics such as becoming and remaining undetectable, adhering to antiretroviral therapy, finding the right healthcare provider, and more.
